Take To The Street (part 1)

The weapon of choice is a 35mm f1.4.

The rule, and the only one of the day: no looking through the view finder. Shoot from the hip, the chest and over the shoulder. Whatever.

The journey begins on Nanjing West Lu / Wujiang Lu toward Yongjia Lu / Shanxi South Lu under an innocuous drizzle….

I love these! But I ask: do you find you have to do a lot of sifting and sorting at the end of the day? Or you’ve been very lucky with this stuff?

Indeed! That’s the beauty (and evil) of the digital camera. 🙂

These are very cool shots, Sue Anne 🙂 I’ve always liked the perspective of shooting from the hip… add to that the thrill of shooting blind and getting that perfect frame 🙂

Thanks Danny! Glad to hear you approve! It was a way to break out of the dreary style of actually framing, definitely a new perspectve! Have you tried much in Orchard Road?

Oh I definitely have back when I was experimenting. I used an ultra wide lens (at 14mm I think) and tried to shoot as close to people as I could without bumping at them 🙂 You can check out the set here, in case ur interested http://www.flickr.com/photos/dannysantos/sets/72157607185167350/

Yeah, it really is a fresh break from the usual adrenaline rush of framing & shooting in the streets 🙂
