8th Shanghai Photographer Night

This and early next week is all about street photography.

Come next Wednesday, April 13th, I will be part of a street photography show at Dada Bar in what has become a regular popular arts event: the Shanghai Photographer Night. Started in 2008 by Shanghai-based photographer Tim Franco, photographers showcased their work in slideshow form with accompanying music as part of their art.

As co-organizer for this upcoming event, I will be featuring a participating street photographer each day for the next week as an insight into their work. Stay tuned!

Shanghai’s most talented street photographers will be present and showcasing their work from Europe and across China. There will also be a special featurette on the art of street photography.

上海最出色的街头摄影师们将展示他们在欧洲以及中国拍摄的作品。同时,还会有一个关于街头摄影的特别放映。

“Snapshot: Street in Germany” by Tang Ying (唐颖)
Shanghai-born Tang Ying is one of the many renowned international photographers behind the seminal book “Street Photography Now”. Also popularly known as ‘sakuralove’ on Flickr, she will be debuting her latest work from the streets of Germany.

“Exposures From An Urban Landscape” by Zaijietou.com (在街头) collective artists
Featuring a selection of work from the street photography blog, Zaijietou.com (在街头) or “On the Street”. Zaijietou.com is home to over 60 street photographers from all over China, sharing their unique perspective of life in the streets.

“Instants Décisifs” by Eric Leleu
A French photographer based in Shanghai, Eric Leleu’s “instants décisifs” is a photographic project presenting reality-like digitally-composed images shot during the Beijing Olympics 2008. His showcase will include a video timelapse animation of all the photo material he used to produce the series.

“The Theatre of Everyday Life” by Sue Anne Tay
The photographer behind the popular blog, ShanghaiStreetStories.com, took to the streets of Shanghai in an attempt to capture wit, humor and drama of life in the streets. She showcases her findings.

“In-sight” by Nick Turpin
A featurette of the documentary on street photography directed by renowned British street photographer, Nick Turpin, which recently debuted at the UK FORMAT International Photography Festival 2011.

抓拍德国街头 – 唐颖

出生于上海的唐颖是国际知名的街头摄影师,也是颇具影响力的《街头摄影进行时》一书的作者之一。她将首次展示她在德国街头拍摄的作品,她也在flickr上,帐号是sakuralove。

城市风景的曝光 – 众艺术家

来自一个群组街头摄影网站—-zaijietou.com (在街头) 的作品,在街头拥有遍布全国的六十余名摄影师,通过网络分享他们关于街头摄影的独特视角。

人生如戏 – 郑素韵

著名的街头摄影博客ShanghaiStreetStories.com的作者,尝试捕捉街头摄影中的机智、幽默与戏剧性。她将同大家分享她的收货。

决定性的瞬间 – Eric Leleu

决定性的瞬间是来自与居住在上海的摄影师Eric Leleu的逼真数码影像摄影项目。他的展示将包括一段由此项目图片所组成的动画视频。

直觉 – Nick Turpin

《直觉》是著名英国摄影师尼克·托宾所导演的关于街头摄影的纪录片,最近在英国的FORMAT国际摄影节首映,此次放映关于该片的短片。
